Hello all, I am Gerald, and this is my first post on this forum. There don't seem to be a lot of posts on this forum yet (as it's very new, it appears to me), so I thought I might make a post to start things. (If I am out of line, please stop me, of course.)
If there is some interest for this, I'll set up in the "Other" category the threads requisite for the actual beginning of the game. Cheers!
My proposal for "The Cave" goes thusly:
THE CAVE
The Cave is a game reminiscent of Nomic. In Nomic, the players of the game ammend the rules of the game as play progresses. In The Cave, a collection of characters are playing a variation of Nomic. The roleplay consists in the play of this game between the characters, although the twist is that the interior game of Nomic also defines the larger cave game. Things get sticky very quickly.
Each player will be able to create several characters and have them act accordingly. All of the characters begin in the same room. At first, The Cave is heavily controlled by XamGod and Zolgiett, but as time progresses and more complex relationships are developed, the power will get spread around more. (Priest heirarchies, legislatures, judiciary systems, a richer pantheon of Gods, etc.)
Players are encouraged to create many characters and to have them interact and play accordingly. XamGod may set up rules and regulations for the definitions of characters to keep things running smoothly. E may set these up as eir own personal decrees or as official rules. The environs of The Cave are initially entirely at XamGod's disposal, and The Cave will doubtless expand into an interesting environment with many things to do.
INITIAL RULESET OF THE CAVE
1. All rules in effect must be followed in the form in which they are in effect.
2. Whatever is not prohibited or regulated by a rule is permitted and unregulated, with the exception of creating or modifying rules.
3. There exists XamGod, the God of The Cave, by whom all rules are effected, and through whom all things are made.
4. Characters exist by virtue of XamGod's will, and are only present by his effecting their prescence.
5. The Asthetic of The Cave is the direct domain of XamGod, and may be chosen at eir fancy.
6. There exists Zolgiett, the God of Void, by whom all things are rendered not.
7. XamGod may create rules and is responsible for maintaining all current lists, but may not destroy rules.
8. Zolgiett may destroy rules and is responsible for maintaining all historical records, but may not create rules.
9. No one player may hold the office of XamGod and Zolgiett simultaneously.
10. The goal of The Cave is for a character to win. Losing is possible only directly following action.
11. Characters perform action only by praying to the Gods and hoping for their grace.
12. No character may win the game by praying to XamGod
13. No character may lose the game by praying to Zolgiett
14. The Gods are not characters.
15. As long as XamGod is a role held by at least one player, the game is in session.
16. Winning the game causes the winning player to assume the role of XamGod and to nominate someone else to assume the role of Zolgiett, at which point play continues.
